Laebon History - Since 1976
We’ve been around along time, creating communites all over Central Alberta. From humble beginnings then, to being one of the largest home builders in Alberta, we’ve always stayed focused on our clients, their homes and their communities.
Here are a few historical items we are particulaly proud of:
Laebon re-enters the Olds market with Hawthorn Greene, a three phase planned community.
Laebon opens Park Place in Penhold, a bedroom community to the south of Red Deer.
Laebon opens Lexington Village on 13.3 acres in the fast growing area of southeast Red Deer. Lexington Village sets sales records as it's 77 homes sold quickly, leading to the opening of Lonsdale in 1999.
Laebon acquired land for Carriage Park, a mixed use 52-lot redevelopment in Innisfail, Carriage Park led to the development of streetscapes incorporating different sized homes as well as custon homes. Upon completion of Carriage Park in 1997, Laebon purchased land for Westpark also in Innisfail.
Laebon enters the Olds market with Cypress Close, a 13-lot development.
In the fall of 1993 Kensington Grove was opened. This was a landmark for Laebon, as it marked the first truly unique "Laebon Community", bringing narrow lot homes to Red Deer, and expanding the role and depth of architectural controls. In "Laebon Communities" The legacy of Kensington Grove remains with Kingsgate, an ongoing master planned community that will be completed in 2010.
Laebon opened Aspen Ridge in Blackfalds, which eventually led to Westglen and Birchwood Meadows, Blackfalds is a bedroom community with a price sensitive focus.
Laebon contracted sharply in the early 1980's as the economy slowed. The compnay learned quickly how to cut costs and diversify on order to survive. In 1982, Peter Lacey left the company. The focus was on the mid market; the large market segment between the first time homebuyer and the luxury market.
